History

Hotel Prague consists of two initially separate buildings, both built at the beginning of the twentieth century. The left side of the current hotel was originally called Vila Praha, later Vila Antal, and during the Communist regime it was renamed Detva.
The right part of the hotel, originally called Hermann—after its original owner—was after the Second World War and nationalization renamed, Hviezdoslav, after the famous Slovak poet. In 2005 extensive reconstructions began, including an addition to connect the two original buildings. The hotel has now returned to one of its original names, and is again known as Hotel Prague.
Ing.arch. Miroslav Marko M.Arch, author of the architectural design for the reconstruction and addition to Hotel Praha, is also an author of the famous local restaurant, Dedinka (Little Village), which is only a 3 minute walk from the hotel.
